After a massive response to their top of the line ASUS ROG Scar II Gaming Laptop, Asus has revealed a 17.3″ Model for FPS gamers looking to take it to the next level.
ASUS’ slim design helps make the Scar II the most compact gaming notebook in the 17″ category and trust me when i say, it’s a beauty. The bezels have gotten smaller, the Keyboard is full RGB and it’s packs quite a punch in terms of potential performance. It comes up to an i7 8750H and GTX 1060 only, presumably to keep the heat under control since the regular 15″ Scar II goes up to a 1070. Much like the original scar it comes with a 144hz refresh rate display, this time upgraded to a 3ms response time.
A software revamp in the form of the Armoury Crate aims to give an overhaul of how you monitor and control your laptops performance and is a much welcome addition to the ASUS Notebooks. You can overclock, control your Aura Sync Lighting and more from one very well designed app now.
Overall the larger Scar II is a welcome addition to the ASUS ROG Lineup of gaming laptops, however i would have expected it to ship with up to a GTX 1070 considering FPS gamers always want more FPS, something which the GTX 1060 cannot always deliver on especially with games like PUBG or upcoming new shooters like Battlefield V. With ASUS’ great new design, dust management and wicked looks the Scar II 17″ should do quite well with gamers around the world, but i do foresee it having a bit of trouble with Indian consumers as the price will no doubt be much higher.
